JNPMEDI (CEO KwunHo Jeong), an AI platform-based clinical trial consulting company, announced that the “JNPMEDI x KNAPS Pharma & Biotech Out-Licensing Strategy Pitch Competition,” co-hosted with the International Affairs Department of KNAPS (Korean National Association for Pharmaceutical Students), concluded successfully with its final pitching session on the 31st.
The competition was designed to provide pharmacy students with in-depth exposure to the latest research topics and global trends in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. In particular, it focused on offering hands-on experience with the out-licensing process, which plays a critical role in global expansion and in strengthening the competitiveness of Korean pharmaceutical companies.
JNPMEDI has built strong expertise in international regulations and industry trends across the entire drug development lifecycle through continuous expansion of its business domains and engagement with specialists from various fields. Based on this foundation, the company partnered with KNAPS to share practical knowledge essential for developing effective out-licensing strategies with the next generation of talent.
The program consisted of a structured, practice-oriented curriculum, including ▲online workshops, ▲preliminary assignments, and ▲offline final presentations. Approximately 60 pharmacy students participated in the online workshop held on the 21st, where SooHyun Lew, Chief Medical Officer at JNPMEDI, and Jung Kim, Medical Strategist at JNPMEDI Partners, delivered in-depth lectures on out-licensing. Participants gained a solid understanding of core concepts, real-world applications, and methodologies for company analysis, laying the groundwork for strategic planning.
Following the workshop, KNAPS assigned a preliminary task based on a fictional pharmaceutical technology scenario adapted from real technologies. Participants selected potential out-licensing partner companies and conducted analyses focused on feasibility and sound reasoning. JNPMEDI reviewed the assignments from a practical perspective and provided strategic feedback, helping participants further refine their final presentations.
On the final day, the 31st, students visited JNPMEDI’s headquarters in Songdo, Incheon, and delivered their final pitches at Maven Hall. The judging panel included HyeEun Cho, Director at TBZ Partners; Assistant professor HeeChan Yoo of Chung-Ang University College of Pharmacy; and JaeHyun Lee, Chief of Staff at JNPMEDI. Contestants presented their out-licensing strategies based on prior analyses and engaged in Q&A sessions.
The judges provided feedback while sharing broader insights into technology transfer, commercialization, and global expansion opportunities across the pharma and biotech sectors. The session also gave students a meaningful opportunity to experience the communication skills and practical acumen required for real-world out-licensing strategy development.
The judging panel then evaluated the presentations and Q&A responses comprehensively, awarding first-, second-, and third-place prizes to the top teams. All participants received certificates of completion, underscoring the significance of industry–academia collaboration in cultivating future leaders.
CEO KwunHo Jeong commented, “We hope this competition will serve as a strong example of practice-oriented industry–academia collaboration and lay a solid foundation for developing future leaders in the pharma and biotech industries. JNPMEDI will continue to share real-world experience with the next generation through programs such as the JNPMEDI x KNAPS Out-Licensing Strategy Pitch Competition, contributing to the sustainable growth of the industry.
