The paradigm of corporate management is rapidly evolving. Beyond the pursuit of profit alone, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management has emerged as a key indicator of corporate competitiveness and long-term sustainability.

This shift carries particular weight in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, which is directly linked to public health and human life. Today, pharma and biotech companies are accelerating their transition from purely commercial entities to “coexistence-driven industries,” fulfilling social responsibility while growing alongside the communities they serve. This movement represents both a commitment to sustainable value creation and a meaningful redefinition of the industry’s role in future society.

In line with this broader trend, leading Korean pharmaceutical and biotech companies are expanding the scope of their social contributions. Moving beyond traditional donation-based activities, they are implementing diverse initiatives aimed at tangibly improving the quality of life for children, people with disabilities, local communities, and students. These efforts clearly demonstrate the industry’s growing recognition of its role as a socially responsible sector.

■ JNPMEDI: An AI Clinical Platform Leader Creating Shared Value Beyond Innovation

JNPMEDI, which is expanding the frontiers of the clinical trial landscape through innovative AI technologies, is also actively pursuing social value creation beyond technological advancement. Rather than focusing on one-time donations, the company is contributing to sustainable growth by investing in talent development and fostering a healthy industry ecosystem.

In particular, JNPMEDI has drawn attention for its strong commitment to nurturing the next generation of pharmaceutical and biotech professionals. By pooling the goodwill of its employees, the company has awarded scholarships to students at Hallym University and provided development funds to the College of Pharmacy at Korea University, supporting academic advancement. JNPMEDI employees have also participated as adjunct professors in Hallym University’s 2025 Nanodegree Program in the clinical field, while senior executives have delivered lectures at Kyungsung University—demonstrating meaningful educational contributions grounded in real-world experience.

In addition, JNPMEDI has offered internship opportunities to students from Dongguk University’s Department of Medical Device Industry and the Department of Biohealth Medical Device Regulatory Science, enabling aspiring professionals to gain hands-on industry experience. These initiatives have led to active academia–industry collaboration, including an industry–academia seminar held in June with Inje University and the Gyeongnam Gimhae Gangso Special Zone Big Dream Well Bio Project Group, providing a platform for sharing the latest technologies and knowledge.

Efforts to strengthen the broader industry ecosystem are also ongoing. In June, JNPMEDI participated in the third session of the 2025 Hyundai Research Institute Overseas Koreans Invitation Program, contributing to expanded domestic and international exchange. In July, the company successfully co-hosted a pharmaceutical and biotech licensing-out strategy pitch competition with KNAPS, supporting the commercialization of promising technologies and fostering collaboration between startups and pharmaceutical companies—bringing the values of innovation and shared growth into practice.

Beyond industry initiatives, JNPMEDI is also committed to building an inclusive environment where diverse members of society can grow together. By employing athletes with disabilities, the company promotes diversity, supports independence for socially vulnerable groups, and extends its positive social impact—demonstrating ESG values in action.
