| Introducing Startups that Succeeded in Raising Over 10 Billion Won in Series A Funding Amidst the Investment Cold Wave of the Second Half of 2022

Amidst the severe economic downturn, the startup market, which had enjoyed a boom, is now experiencing a significant investment freeze. According to the Startup Alliance's analysis of the startup investment trends report for the first half of this year, VCs invested a total of 4.42 trillion won in the first half of 2021 and 7.3 trillion won in the second half, continuing an upward trend and recording an all-time high last year. However, this momentum began to falter this year, leading to a severe drought in investment by the second half.

Despite this, some startups have proven their corporate value with differentiated technology and business capabilities, securing over 10 billion won in investment from the early Series A stage. These companies are emerging game-changers in various promising fields such as medical platforms, artificial intelligence, and data, with a future that looks even more promising than the present.

■ JNPMEDI: Leading the Digital Transformation in the Clinical Trial Market

Medical data platform company JNPMEDI successfully raised 14 billion won in Series A funding last month, demonstrating its corporate value.

The Series A round was led by Pavilion Capital, a growth investment subsidiary of Temasek, Singapore's largest sovereign wealth fund. All initial investors, including Kakao Ventures, Murex Partners, Ajou IB Investment, and Gentium Partners, participated as follow-on investors, drawing significant attention. JNPMEDI is one of the most highly regarded companies in the medical platform market and is preparing for significant business expansion in 2023.

JNPMEDI has developed its own IT-based clinical trial data management platform, "Maven Clinical Cloud," applying it to various areas such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, digital therapeutics, and digital medical devices, leading the advancement of the medical market.

Notably, JNPMEDI's decentralized clinical trial (DCT) solution, "Maven DCT Suite," has garnered global attention for transforming traditionally face-to-face clinical trial processes into digital ones. Offered as software-as-a-service (SaaS), the Maven DCT Suite provides convenience, reduced time, cost savings, and accurate data collection through remote processes, from patient recruitment to data collection, monitoring, and prescription, bringing various benefits to the clinical trial industry.

JNPMEDI has not only demonstrated the capability to lead digital transformation in the traditionally slow-paced clinical trial industry but has also been actively engaging in collaborative projects with related organizations, earning high corporate value recognition from VCs. With this Series A funding, JNPMEDI plans to further enhance its technological capabilities and accelerate its entry into the global market.
